Rollie James WelchRollie Welch has been employed as a librarian for thirty years, mostly working directly with young adults. His career started with working as a school librarian, responsible for everything going on in the library, in various Ohio districts. After eighteen years, Rollie migrated to public libraries first as a teen librarian and currently as Cleveland Public Library’s Collection Manager. At each stop, the focus was connecting young adults to great books. Rollie has served on several YALSA book selection committees: Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, Best Books for Young Adults, and the Michael L. Printz Award. As a reviewer, Rollie currently writes for The Cleveland Plain Dealer and Library Journal. He also co-authors a column for VOYA called Man Up! Rollie’s thirty years of experience has put him in tune with thousands of young adult books, which was a direct influence for his writing this second edition of A Core Collection for Young Adults.
